Ambergris - Belize Yacht Club

Does anyone have anything good to say about the Belize Yacht Club? Or anything to say at all about it? I have not yet seen a write-up on this hotel. Their website has very little info and no pictures or descriptions of the rooms. I can't find any write-up in this website or any other website. I've been told it's a nice property and reasonable rates, yet I'm not getting that impression. Anyone?
Thanks!

I haven't stayed there, it looks ok from the outside. Last time we were there and returning from a snorkel trip, our guide told us that it wasn't a great place to stay, something about smelly water and no water pressure. I think the property has changed hands fairly recently.

I haven't booked the Yacht Club in many years because they always had annoying problems. But it has changed hands, bought and now managed by a well respected Belize company and I hear they've upgraded the rooms, property and things are improving. I've not been inside the rooms recently, but was at the hotel last week and thought the grounds looked good. Can't offer much more than that.

I hope that things are turning around at BYC. That place has gone through more changes than a butterfly -- condo, hotel, timeshare, med school home, conference center. Lots of management problems and changes. Generally very nice facilities, though, and a good location within walking distance of town. There's a seawall rather than a beach.

Hello, Yes I have stayed there two years in a row. The only complaint I had was the water pressure. The rooms are very well kept. We never had problems with the employees. I gathered the owner at the time was not the nicest person, but I never saw anything but excellent service. I know a lot of people that post here have "so so" attitudes about BYC, but I give them a thumbs up. My own experience was so nice, we went back last year and there were ten of us. Everyone loved the place. For the price, it is an excellent property. I would recommend it. Good luck. RC
