I went to the Amazon Basin in Ecuador this summer. There are several lodges to choose from.
I went to La Selva Jungle Lodge and had a wonderful time ! There was no electricity (only a kerosene lamp) in my cabana, but there was a shower and toilet. The food was excellent. Also, Ecuador is the jumping off point to the Galapagos Islands - paradise ! |
I spent some days in a lodge in the "oriente" in Ecuador. It's very nice and easy. There is several lodges in the region of Porto Misahualli at the east of Banos. Some of them are not expensive and you will have some good time there. It's also possible to make a bigger trip in the amazon forest from this place.

Hi! I am also planning a trip to the Amazon but in the Brazilian Rain Forest. There is a place that is outside of Manaus that has all types of different package type things. It is an ecological reserve of sorts but sounds really cool. It is the Ariau Jungle Tower and Hotel. There is a web site: www.vacation-inc.com/lodgings/amazon.html and also an e-mail address for a person who handles the reservations in the US: [email protected] contact Jill Siegel. Hope this helps.

Hi,
I have just returned from a primary rainforest adventure
for 10 days in remote Peruvian Amazon areas. In early 1999
I am planning to continue my adventures from the Heath
River (border of Peru/Bolivia)into the interior of Bolivia, and possibly
then on to the Mato Grosso area of Brazil.
If you have been to the Madidi or Beni River areas, I would
love to hear from you...if you are up for an adventure into
remote areas, give me a yell (actually an email will do)!
If you are looking for an established tour that will give you the most outrageous experience then I recommend you check with http://inkanatura.com
They are a non-profit organization that owns jungle lodges. Of special note is the Sandoval Lodge.
dav
[email protected]
