Amazon footware in October

We are going to the Amazon Basin in Peru for 5 days in mid-October. After reading numerous posts, I am still not certain about the best footware to pack. Along with Teva's, is it better to have sneakers or hiking boots. Since it is the dry season, will it still be very muddy?

My cousin just returned from the Amazon and so I put the question of shoes to her. Here is her response
"Shoes in Amazon were tennis with good treads-- TEvas would have been good too, and flip flops. NOTHING fancy or you would be totally overdressed. The climb up out of boats in the low water season was sometimes up very uneven wood panks to get to shore, so make sure you have a good grip on the soles. Some of thse climpbs to shore were as steep as anything on the Inca Trail."
Hope that helps.

The best shoes I've found for this type trip are my Keen's. They come through anything and are very sure footed in tricky situations as well as totally waterproof. I have the Keen Newport H2.
