All Inclusive - Playa Del Carmen?

I'm looking for a trip to Playa Del Carmen to an all inclusive hotel. My friend and I are looking to get away from husbands, kids and jobs for a few days and relax! We are looking for a nice hotel that has a great beach to sit and on where we don't have to worry about paying for drink, food etc.

Thanks so much!

try the Riu Yucatan my wife and i loved it clean with good sized rooms, mini bar and safe in room. the staff is friendly and very helpful. your price includes all drinks and food. the main restaurant is a five star buffet. grab a drink and go down to a clean beach with plenty of chairs and shade trees it is also topfree. the hotel is a short safe walk from a small shopping district where items are reasonably priced. we plan to go back there.

My sister and I spent Xmas 2004 at the Royal Hideaway in Playa Del Carmen. We visited a few of the other resorts, we really preferred the RH. nice spa, lots of good restaurants on the property, nice lounge chairs, upscale type place, but definitely worth it. Have fun!!

Royal Hideaway is still closed due to damage from the hurricane but the other AI's are open and back to normal.

as pepper suggested, the Riu Palace would be a good choice with a great beach.

My sister and a friend and I just spend a week at the Iberostar Paraiso Del Mar. We loved it. Totally relaxing.

colokid -
have you seen the Royal Hideaway after the hurricane? We are scheduled to honeymoon there in July and are getting a little nervous that they will still be under construction. Overall, how is Playcar holding up?

Playacar looked great in DEC as did Playa Del Carmen. The major damage I saw on the way down from the airport was the treetops which were now missing and you could see right down to the resorts on the beach. I walked through Playacar and it looked great. I've heard the Hideaway just recently reopened and they had the most damage that I saw. I haven't seen any trip reports but I would bet they wouldn't reopen without being ready.

But, then again, I just checked a few sites and it says they're opening March 27 with a new infiniti pool. Someone also mentioned it looked like they had built some type of retaining wall in front on the beach. If I see any more info I'll post.

Just came back from Iberostar Tucan/Quetzal resort. There are 5 restaurants from which to choose, buffets for breakfast, lunch, supper and late night snacks. Beautiful beach with plenty of chairs and palapas for a bit of shade. The single women I saw ther seemed to be having a great time. There are a lot of activities like dancing lessons beach parties and night time shows. Of particular interest to the single woman was a young recreation worker who resembled Fabio. Rooms were large, mini bar, safes, lovely bathrooms. Thee are at least three bars, including one swim up bar and staff wander amongst the beach chairs to serve you if you can't drag yourself out of the cahir to go to the bar.
