Al Cielo and Esencia on the Riviera Maya
 

I am getting ready to book at both of these places. Yes, they are on the same stretch of beach. I wanted something semi-rustic for a few days and luxury for a few days.

There are not a lot of comments about Al Cielo, however the one or two reviews I have seen seemed very positive. Anyone else out there been there? It would be great to hear as much about this place as possible. It's nice to know what to expect.

Esencia just opened, so there is nothing in the way of reviews out there yet. Curious if any fodorites have stayed there yet or know anything more about it.

All I know is Al Cielo is offered on differentworld.com and locogringo.com. I've wanted to stay there, but I protest the additional charges for my kids that would amount to $50/day (one is almost 2, the other 11).

You can be sure that it's peaceful being surrounded by native hardwood in your room. You'll find it to be very calming after being in the sun all day.
