Akumal Beach Resort - looking for CURRENT information

Anyone visited Akumal Beach Resort very recently (last 3 months)? I read they are making some changes related to the sale of some of the property to a neighboring property. I would like some detailed information. If you are familiar with the property you will know what I am referencing. Current information only please. Thanks.

Did you check the Loco Gringo forum? They are all over Akumal Beach Resort there (sometimes written as ABR).

Loco Gringo is where I've gotten most of my information so far. But not much good info since December and even they did not have the full scoop. Thanks!

Quite a few folks on Locogringo who have been there recently, no construction has started yet. Various rumors, the two most recent ones are that it is going to be a new Secrets Resort, the
other rumor is they are building condos. ABR sold Buildings 1-3 and the Moonrise bar, the Bush family sold part of their property (they own Hotel Akumal Caribe, Lol-Ha and lots of other prime Akumal real estate) from south of the HAC pool. NO ONE knows yet and no official announcement has been made. I am going in May and would not hesitate to stay there, if I was not already planning on staying with friends in a condo on Half Moon Bay.

I walked past it a few weeks ago. The northernmost part of the complex, including the beach bar closest to the Akumal Caribe property, and some of the rooms close to this same area, have been closed off with barbed wire. As you walk further south, the rest of the complex looks fine - nicely manicured and well populated with guests.
