air traffic control strike

Just read in AM costa rica that a bunch of air traffic controllers walked off the job. I sure hope they fix this problem before I travel there in august. With all the logistics and hassles involved with travelling half way around the world, dont need added stress.

No problema. Controllers from other Central American countries are filling in and the controllers are receiving zero support from other unions so far, so chances are this strike will end soon. Meanwhile, no flights are being delayed anywhere in the country.

My family of 5 was in line to checkin at the airport when the strike started. It slowed us down by 2 hours getting out of Costa Rica but San Salvedor was already helping and everything was fine. You'll be fine.

Just read the tico times where the strike was the top story. I think travellers to CR should check this out. Yes they have brought in foreign workers, but hopefully the standards are high as air traffic controllers are important to flight safety.
