air conditioning in August
 

I'll be traveling to Costa Rica in the beginning of August. some of the places I"m looking at (Costa verde II in particular) do not have AC. Is this going to be miserable in August?

I posted the same question about no A/C in November. I was told that it depends where you're staying. We rented a villa in Manuel Antonio with no AC and was told by the owner as well as some of the previous guests that it wouldn't be an issue. It's an open air villa and gets a lot of breezes.

oh yeah, I meant to say that I will be in Arenal and Manuel Antonio. Thanks for your input, but I'm worried that August might me a lot hotter or more humid than November.

Because of Costa Rica's proximity to the equator, temps don't vary TOO much no matter what time of the year you are there. Temps vary more by elevation than they do time of the year.

The temps in MA in August are generally close to the same as they are in Novemeber...that being the mid 80's. It will be humid both times, as it's rainy season.

Whether or not you need AC depends a lot on your comfort level. I think you'll be fine...I enjoy the breezes off the ocean in MA. but you seem worried about it, which may mean you'd enjoy the AC more. Bottom line is, if YOU think you need AC, then you probably do...it's your vacation!

As far as Arenal, it will be a few degrees cooler - think upper 70's to low 80's, but cool at night.

You always stay at Costa Verde, the studio plus rooms, they have ac. I've not needed it, in June, but everyone is different.

I agree. I usually don't need a/c. But it depends on the individual, and Quepos can get hot and sticky.

Over the years, I have learned not to talk customers into a non-a/c room if they are leaning the other way. Costa Verde has some a/c rooms. You could ask them about moving.

I have never felt the need for a/c in the Arenal area.

thanks. I'm usually not one to "over heat" but I hate not being able to sleep at night b/c it's sticky and hot.
