AI Child-Friendly Tulum Vicinity (30+ mi)

My daughter, her husband & their 2 year-old AND we two mother-in-laws are looking for an all-inclusive child-friendly resort fairly close to Tulum (30 mi or so). Huge complexes/Hi-rises aren't appealing. Dates are April 2-7. Budget is approx. $150-$200/day per person. (I have NO idea if this is high or low!) We do want something nice/clean/good food & will pay more if necessary. (Here again, I'm clueless as to prices. Sorry!) Must have something fun for a 2-yr-old to do besides sit on the beach. But must be on/near a beach. What else? The 4 of us adults don't mind sharing a room if it would cut down cost. Please help!

Tulum isn't an AI sort of place. The hotels are small, boutique sort of places with various levels of rusticness from very rustic to rustic luxury. Dreams is probably the closest one, just to the north. There are more AI resorts farther north, closer to Playa Del Carmen.

The closest one I think is Dreams Tulum and is only about 5 minutes north of Tulum. It is on a great beach and is very kid friendly. Their kids club starts at 3 so she wouldn't be able to use it. If they are looking for a kids club, the next closet one would be 1/2 hour north closer to Akumal and would be the Grand Palladium (Colonial would be the best section for kids IMO since it has junior sutes and closest to the kids pool and water park) and their kids club starts at 1.

There are no AIs in Tulum proper, Dreams Tulum is closest at about a 5-10 minute drive north of Tulum pueblo entrance. I checked for dates of April 2-7 and the cheapest nightly rate was $506 plus tips. Not sure if that also included the 19% tax.
They are unlikely to let 4 adults share one room.
Look at Grand Palladium just north of Akumal, maybe one of their suites. ABBWR might work although they do not cater to children, eg no waterslides and stuff like that. They are all sold out for May and part of April but you might get lucky.

You may want to think about renting a house. Check out VRBO. Many offer cooks, maid and other services. You could easily do this with the stated budget.

Thanks for the replies. jamie99, what is ABBWR? We're still looking. Does anybody have info on Azul Beach area?

Sorry, ABBWR stands for Akumal Bay Beach and Wellness Resort, it and the Adults Only (AO) Secrets Akumal are the only two resorts on Akumal Bay proper (calm water, good snorkeling and swimming with sea turtles).
The resort underwent a major remodel and expansion in Dec. 2015 but is still only 350-400 rooms.
