Aerial Tram outside San Jose

Is the aerial tram outside of San Jose worth going to? Tickets are $50 each. Has anybody been there before?

We went in March and to be honest I was disappointed. I did not find it worth the price and I am a forest ecologist.

My wife and I went two years ago and enjoyed the trip. Go early in the morning to see the wildlife. Go to Arenal and spend a couple of days. It's worth it and you stand a better chance of seeing the volcano.

It is not that great, to see wildlife and forest in Costa Rica, you do not need to spend 50 dollars. Somtimes it is a etter idea to go to a National Park o biological reserve.

Have a nive trip

Hi
We were in Costa Rica in November and went up to the Rainforest tram then. It was wonderful...we made reservations on the tram's website and they picked us up at our hotel in a van. It was q 1/2 hours or so up to the rainforest with a great guide -- a very twisty and windy trip. We arrived in pouring rain -- had a poncho with us but you could buy one there for under $10. Rain died down and we had a great trip on the tram with our guide -- an ornithologist. Saw some birds but mainly the jungle. An amazing sight to see everything covered with a plant of some kind. It would be spectacular in the spring to see the orchids in bloom. We also took a hike around the property and saw lots of unusual plants -- even the ants were fascinating. Hope you enjoy your trip. We liked Costa Rica but were somewhat put off by the bars on the windows and big electronic gates with barbed wire. I wouldn't take anything valuable and wouldn't drive on my own in the city -- no street signs or addresses. Taxis were great as were bus tours. We were at the Intercontinental for 2 nights -- gorgeous hotel with an armed guard outside. Britt coffee is wonderful -- great tour there. Poas interesting but I got altitude sick there...too high. Then to Puntarenas to board our ship. Trip over Pan Am highway was really hairraising. Very scary drivers cutting in and out on the blind two lane road. Glad we had a good driver!

Kim: We were there 2 yrs ago, and if I went back to Costa Rica again, I won't bother with the tram ride. If you take any tours while there, you will see the same flora and fauna along the highways. We loved the Arenaul volcano and the Monteverde Cloud Forest. Both were long trips but well worth it.
