extra day in Mexico city or San Cristobal?

My husband and I are travelling to Mexico in November. so far we have 4 nights in Mexico city and 3 nights San Cristobal, 2 nights Palenque, 3 nights Merida, 3 nights tulum then flying out of Cancun.

My question is- I have an extra day up my sleeve, should we spend it in San Cristobal or Mexico City.

We love Ruins and plan to visit Teotihucan from there and do a half day market and cooking class. We do love rural areas as well, hiking, exploring small villages, getting to know the people and culture etc.

Will we be bored with 4 nights in San Cristobal?

thanks in advance!

Mexico City. So much to see & do. The Pyramids deserve a full day at least although I would stay overnight.
The Anthropology Museum is Smithsonian Quality & deserves a full day.
I could go on & on.

I don't think you would be bored with San Cristobal, but I'm not clear on your plans, as "2 nights" could mean any thing from 1 day to 3 days. So, for example, you say you have 2 nights in Palenque -- which is fine IF that means 2 days, etc. Please clarify!

kja- when leaving san cristobal we are doing an all day tour of the waterfalls then palenque but seeing that we are staying 2 nights near palenque we will go back the next day and finish it off. so 2 nights in palenque. does that help?

Sorry, I'm still confused. IMO, you would allot, at a minimum, 2 full days in San Cristobal (plus a 3rd full day if you are thinking of visiting the Sumidero Canyon), 2 full days in Palenque (1 for the ruins, 1 for the falls), and 2 full days in Merida (more if you want to see Uxmal -- which I highly recommend, and in fact 2 full extra days if you want to see Uxmal AND the Ruta Puuc). I don't see the transit time in your list of nights, so I can't tell how many days you have where and so can't comment intelligently about where you might want to add time -- if, indeed, you have any time to add. Sorry I'm not following along!

I'd put the "extra" day to Tulum at the end of your trip for relaxation.
