Advice for Panama trip in June
Myself (mom) and 20 yr old daughter will be traveling to Panama soon, staying 8 days. Has anyone stayed at Casa Sucre in old town (Panama City) or at the Hotel Milan? Both have great rates. The "charm" of Casca Viejo is appealing but I worry about safety, taxi expenses, etc. Really don't have a lot of info about Hotel Milan (I know it's not in old town...) but Trip Advisor gave it good reviews.
We're actually kind of "winging" this trip, so I don't have any real plans set yet. Considering taking a few days to hike in the Darien rainforest with a private guide, realizing it is relatively difficult to get to. Visited the Osa Peninsula in CR a couple years ago and LOVED that, so hoping for a similar experience. Any advice on any of this, greatly appreciated! |

For similar price usually pick up a 4 star bidding www.priceline.com 70% off amazing value Kuna Yala better for jungle/islands Yandup Island Lodge nice there much better choice than Darien pretty risky www.travel.state.gov Panama for a heads up on the FARC etc. Gamboa Lodge closer in is touristy ok if short on time... Expect a fair amount of rain less sometimes on www.isla-contadora.com worth a visit if time... |

My daughter stayed at Dos Palmitos, a small bed and breakfast in Panama City last week.
It was a last minute booking, literally the night before, and they contacted her very quickly. Some 11th hour changes resulted in my DD arriving in to Panama, solo, at night, which was a worry. Cost was about $75 a night, and included a very satisfactory breakfast with plenty of fresh fruit. For an extra $30, the owners sent their innkeeper to meet my daughter at the airport; she knew he would be there holding a sign with her name on it, so her trip to Panama was relaxing and without the worry of the transfer once she landed. Huge relief! The inn is close to the airport and in a quiet , residential neighbourhood, near a market. It sounds friendly and has a computer for the guests to use. |
