Adventurous Risk Takers I Need Trip Ideas
 

My husband is turning 50 and is an active, adventurous man. I am trying to surprise him with a new activity somewhere in the U.S. or Mexico. Past adventures have included racing school, jet fighter pilots, zip lines, rappelling, bungee jumping, rafting, etc. Since I would like to bring a few couples along, price is a factor and the adventure should be of a shorter duration (2-4 days). My ideas have included Glamis or Baja for dune buggys/ATV riding; G-Force Adventures, trapeze/circus school, hang-gliding (or similar), astronaut adventures, dog sledding, etc. that will provide a good destination to enjoy between February or April. We are from Wisconsin so trying to avoid the cold and snowy -- although he loves to ski and is not a beach bum (has done heli-skiing). So any ideas, past experiences you wish to share, travel sites, outfitters would be greatly appreciated. I need to start moving on plans and am stumped as to what will be memorable for him!

From the sounds of your travel background, it seems as if carousing with polar bears in the great north are the last frontier for you and your hubby.

I don't have any personal experience with the company, but they have a pretty explicit website and they have won a few awards for promoting sustainable and ecotourism. They also run other adventure excursions besides trolling with the polar bears.

Plus, all the fares are in Canadian dollars! (Ok, not as much of a bargain as in the olden days, but still a good deal!)

I'd love to know what you think.

How about BASE jumping?

BASE Jumping is known as being the world's most extreme sport. Bridge Day is the largest BASE jumping event in the world, held on the third Saturday in October every year in Fayetteville, West Virginia.

The New River Gorge Bridge is the world’s 2nd longest single arch bridge, providing the launch point for six hours (9am-3pm EST) of legal, safe BASE jumps. Jumpers from all over the world will be lined up to take their turn leaping from the 876’ tall New River Gorge Bridge. Although 876 feet is extremely high (you could stack the Statue of Liberty twice and the Washington Monument beneath it) it is a quick 8 seconds from the bridge to the water of the New River.

"BASE" is an acronym which stands for the four categories of objects from which one can jump – Building, Antenna, Span (the word used for a bridge), and Earth (the word used for a cliff.)

Do not know if your hubby would qualify to jump but check it out.
