Activities and Day Trips in/around Ixtapa?

Activities and Day Trips in/around Ixtapa?
My wife and I are heading out this coming Thursday morning. Any suggestions on "unadvertised" activities, sites and/or day trips around the Ixtapa area? While I'm at it, any suggestions on good restaurants?

Visited 3 years ago. Really enjoyed Isla Ixtapa, though it's not really off the beaten path. Went back for a second day. Also took a 1.5 hr bus ride from Zihaut. to Petlatlan. Heard they had a good cheap market, but didn't see it till on the bus back to Z.
As for restaurants, I recommend Puntarenas for an authentic dining experience, and Villa del Selva for romance! (both are in Zihuat.)
