Acapulco or Puerto Vallarta for relaxing
 

Message: hi, acapulco or PV for two women 20s and 30s that just want to relax. no kids around, just cabanna boys bringing drinks. We would like to be close to town for a night of clubbing but that is not the main focus. Also looking to "rough it" a couple days in a beach hut on the beach...I cant find anything on that and would love any feedback. Also which has the most unique geography? thanks!

I disagree completely, Acapulco is polluted and hectic. If you wish to relax PV is a much better choice. Don't expect to find a hotel that is beach huts at either place, unless you stay quite a bit out of town. You may want to check out Zihuatenajo or small towns south of Playa del Carmen for more character.

Puerto Vallarta is a lovely city, that I vacation in often... easy to get around, safe and friendly. Most anywhere you can find waiters to bring you drinks at the beach or poolside (except the most basic budget hotels in Old Town where you might have to get your own from the bar & walk to the pool!). For roughing it you can simply head north along the coast, by car, bus or taxi, in less than 1 hour there are many smaller towns (I don't know there are "huts" per say, but simple bungalows say in Bucerias, Sayulita, San Pancho, Ricon de Guayambitos, etc.

The geography of PV is mountains and jungle set around the Bay of Banderas.

Acapulco is larger, and would be more hectic, is my impression.

I have never ween a beach hut (on the beach ) that was for rent.!

Careful of what you ask for because you might get it.!!!

I'm 30-- been to both places with my girlfriends for fun. If you want clubs, Acapulco is it-- but it's polluted, filled with men cat calling as you walk down the street, dirty...way past its prime. I was not impressed--- would never go back.

If you want the perfect mix of beach, shopping, restaurants, activities-- definitely go to PV. I've been there 2x... loved it both times. Plenty of places to get your groove on.... if that's what you want-- and 100% cleaner, nicer than Acapulco.
