Acapulco need help
 

My husband and I have reservations for the Fairmont Pierre Marques, has any one stayed there would like your review?What is the weather like in Oct.? Restaurant recommendations, any price range and food type? Transportation to sights bus or cab info please? Any advise would be appreciated.

We stayed at the Pierre Marques last year with some family. One room was in the main building, the other was not but both were very nice, especially the bathrooms. The only odd thing was that neither room had a hairdryer (unless they were tucked away in a drawer somewhere and we missed them). Both had small refrigerators, so you can bring some drinks from home - or stop at one of the convenience stores or Costco across the street and stock up.

The low-rise buildings at the Pierre Marques make it very quick to get to and from the pool or beach, and it is a lot smaller than the Princess, so it is definitely more relaxed. The downside of the low buildings is that you don't get that spectacular up-high panoramic view of the ocean, but the setting is incredible enough without that.

Thank you for the info on the Fairmont Pierre Marques. I was reading the ammenities for the rooms and you have to request a hair dryer.The Suites have hair dryers. I understand there is a shuttle bus to the Princess, did you spend any time there? Any info on that hotel such as restaurants etc. would be appreciated. Do the rooms in the Pierre have balconies you can sun in?
Any problems getting lounges and umbrellas? Do I need bug repellent? Sorry to ask so many questions.

No problem getting lounge chairs or umbrellas whenever you want. Bugs aren't a big problem, the only time I need bug spray is when I'm sitting outside at dusk, and they never seem to bother my husband at all.

The room in the main building had a small balcony, good for sitting but not for lounging. The other room (farther from the reception desk) had a large outdoor deck area with lounge chairs. They've changed the descriptions on the website since last year...this one may have been a villa room. And I haven't been in any of the rooms in the higher tower building. It can't hurt to ask what is available when you arrive.

The buffet breakfast at the Pierre Marques is very good, with lots of Mexican and American choices, and good fruit and pastries. Or if you want a simpler breakfast there is now a cafe to get coffee and a muffin. Food-wise, our Acapulco strategy is to be lazy during the day -- so we usually just have a room service sandwich or burger for lunch, either at the pool or in the room if we want to cool down -- then go somewhere nice for dinner.

The Princess is definitely worth seeing, the open air reception area inside the pyramid is impressive, and it's interesting to contrast the two styles of hotels. I do like the Hacienda restaurant at the Princess for dinner. I haven't been to Tabachin at the Pierre Marques.
