About Park Chateau Kempinski

We're planning a last minute trip to BA and are considering staying at the Park Chateau Kempinski. It'd be great to hear what others think of it, so post your comments. Our preference is for older, "classy" hotels with interesting architecture that provide good service (rather than modern skyscraper/hotel chains). Any recommendations re: hotels -- and any TIPS for our stay?!? Thanks very much!!!

You have several options for hotels that fit your criteria: Any of the 4 Kempinski hotels; NH Hotels, especially the Jousten; or the Hotel Bel Air. All are in older, refurbished buildings and are smaller, botique hotels.

The Bel Air is very near the Park Chateau. Both are in Barrio Norte/Recoleta area. The Park Plaza is in the "heart" of Recoleta, one of the nicest neighborhoods in Buenos Aires. The NH Jousten is in the downtown area, near theaters, etc.

Kempinski hotels are decorated in a more traditional style than are the other hotels, which feature modern furnishings against a backdrop of architecturally interesting, older buildings....

The biggest single tip I can offer is to work with a local travel agent for tours/excursions and reservations....a good agent will save you money! I recommend Cintia of www.wowargentina.com
She can attend to the details that will make your trip enjoyable and hassle free....airport pickup, a cell phone if you need one, hotel reservations at a rate that will probably be lower than the rate you negotiate on your own, recommendations re: restaurants or current events in Buenos aires, etc.....

Hi drdawggy , our roads seem to be crossing, we also seem to agree a lot!! I also second your recommendation of Cintia , for international standarts her company charges very little and the return in enjoyment of the city is priceless. Also she can get you a better rate in almost any hotel.

Graziella,

Yes, we do agree on many things about Argentina...most especially Cintia...
I first used her service back in March. Since that time I have referred tons of people to her and have never heard anything but praise for her service. She and her husband run a first class service.

We also agree about Art Suites. I have stayed there several times, beginning in November 2001. Nice aparthotel, run by a very helpful family....

I am going back to BsAs next week!

Just returned from a 12 day trip and I enjoyed the Park Plaza..A very friendly staff ,located on a quiet street in a wonderful area ,close to several great restaurants and the hotel was affiliated with a convenient gym.
