8 Days in March
 

I am planning on taking my husband and 22 yr. old daughter to ARgentina. We plan on spending about 4 nites in BA and then the rest in Mendoza until the last nite. We are using Limitless to plan our trip (good or bad idea?) We would like to stay in style, relax a bit, shop, eat, good wine etc. and see the country. Would it be better to go to Bariloche or Patagonia over Mendoza? What are the BEST things to do in BA and/or one of these other places? Any info is welcomed! Thanks so much!

We are going back to Argentina for a second visit in late February and early March. The late February will get us into BA during a Tango festival and then we go to Mendoza for the wine festival March 1-5.

The highlight of sightseeing last year was going to Feria de Mataderos. Don’t miss it. As we approached the area of the fair, the taxi had to drop us off about a block away. The reason was there was a gaucho contest going on. Riders were armed with a small pencil size lance which they tried to snag a small ring (size of the wedding ring) while galloping at full speed. It was such a colorful way to be introduced to the fair.

We watch as this was going on and then headed to the huge crowd that was there. There are about 50 to 100 booths selling everything from clothes, jewelry, etc. to food. And then there is entertainment in the form of singing and dancing. All I can say is these folks know how to have a good time.

Unfortunately we will miss the harvest festival as we are going Mar.18-25th.
I am getting confused. Should we go to Mendoza, Punta Del Este, Calafante, Iguazu....too many choices!!!! any opinions. HELP

there are literally hundreds of "best things to do" in Buenos Aires, it all depends on what sorts of things you're into - and a little research here or on tripadvisor would help you narrow things down, then maybe you'd have some specific questions about certain options. Same thing holds true for Mendoza versus Bariloche or Patagonia - Mendoza if you're into wine, Patagonia if you're into being out in nature, seeing the glaciers, etc.; Bariloche, hmmm, well outside of ski season, i'm not sure... I don't know that area beyond as a skiing area. It also depends on how much time "the rest until the last night" is - if it's only a couple of days, think carefully about how much time you want to spend getting to places, Argentina isn't a small country (Mendoza is 600 miles from Buenos Aires, the other two areas are further).

the schedule is now 3 days BA, 3 days Bariloche at llao llao resort and then back to Ba for 2 days. Would you try to fit in Iguazu Falls or is that just too much traveling in a short amount of time? Do people like Mercedes as a travel agent? She seems to get better rates than I can get. Any comments welcomed! We are leaving in two weeks!

personally i think it's too much travelling. you'll spend a good part of a day each direction getting to and from Iguazu, especially if there are any flight delays, which are common.

I thought so. My only decision now is to do Mendoza at the Cavas Wine Lodge or Bariloche....but Llao Llao resort is booked. Any thoughts or comments?

EPC: mid to late March is low season in Bariloche. How did you go about trying to reserve at the Llao-Llao?

I tried going directly through Leading Hotels of the world and also through Mercedes the travel agent. Both said it was booked. Any other suggestions? We are still trying to decide between Bariloche and Mendoza

Isn't deciding between Bariloche and Mendoza really deciding between skiing vs. wine tasting? I'm curious for wine tasting, with regional history as well, whether folks would recommend Mendoza or Salta?
