We flew out on a Saturday evening (seemed like a lot of people from our hotel were doing the same thing), and there wasn't much traffic getting to the airport. The airport was crowded, but manageable

Sunday returns are fine.
Traffic is terrible during rush hour during the work week but manageable most weekends.
Most flights to the US from Argentina leave in the early or late evening so you may not have much flexibility re: hour of departure.

This is what I posted earlier..

EZE is about 45 minutes from town with no traffic , I think. The other airport is right in town.. that would probably be the one you would use for flights in the country.
Traffic here is the same as any big city in the world.. it can be a nightmare or you can just zip right in.
Your flights will arrive early in the am.. .
You will leave in the evening.. .
As dr dawggy said, you don't pick your flight , really, you arrive in BA in the early AM and you will leave later in the evening..
We had no jetlag at all flying in and out of Houston/the WestCoast... my son said flying into NY, was a piece of cake. You sleep through the flight and arrive in the am.. .. much easier on me than any of my flights to and from Europe ever were!

Thanks! I am a good through the night flyer. I have the tricks ready...sleepmask, neck pillow...zanax.
When leaving from EZE on either an early morning or late night flight, how much time do you typically allow yourselves to leave downtown BA and have check in and non-rush airport time?

As long as I have your attention...What would you budget per person as a daily expense? This might include food, wine, local travel (taxis, buses) and entrance fees to things like museums?
I kno this could have a wild variable, but maybe a ballpark? Thanks

I am liking the Home Hotel or Mine Hotel for the first week, then our excursion to wherever and then Hotel del casco for the last two nights.
Out of curiousity, how far time-wise by taxi between Palermo Soho and Hotel del Casco?

Hotel de Casco in San Isidro?
San Isidro is not really IN the city.. it is a train ride away, maybe half an hour on the train..
Hope you stay at the Home Hotel.. I think you will like it a lot ...

Thanks Scarlett, Home is where we want to be. Wow does that sound funny! I have E-mailed them three times with no response, but we have time. I can't even get an airfare quote yet. Too early.
One of our party has a radio show and is very into Latin jazz. The owners of the Home Hotel are into music it sounds like.
I figure that we'll stay in BA for a week, then take an excursion to who knows where, then back to BA for a night or two. All in around three weeks. Does that make sense to you, as far as dividing our time?
The Hotel del Casco was recommded on this thread as something a little different, maybe at the end of our trip. 45 minutes from the EZE airport.
But, what would you do? It's still all in the initial planning stages.
I am the main control freak on our journeys. One friend calls me the CEO of CFT (Control Freak Travel). But, I do come up with some good ideas, as do the rest of the group. I just have more time, I guess.

if you were thinking of spending more time doing things in BA at the end of your trip, then, no, staying in San Isidro probably would not be worth it.
But, if you wanted to use it as a base to just relax, pack up, see a suburb, or even if you have a full day to tour the Tigre, then it would be good.
I guess it also depends on how much time you have when you return from your travels before going home.
in terms of the airports, it is equally convenient to both the domestic and international as would be going back to Palermo Soho.

Thanks for all the info, On the FF miles, yes, we are waiting for the 330 day mark. And yes, it's better to book right away, as we have usually done. However, I think I might just pay for this flight as I'll get about 17,000 miles (wow it's a long trip) for this flight on Continental and would have to buy a few miles to get to the 60,000 I would need for a FF ticket.
But, just for the record, booking FF at the last minute (not for this trip though) usually produces a seat as the airlines have a better idea of the occupancy count.
Still waiting to hear back from the Home Hotel. Don't want to send a forth E-mail, so maybe I'll just call them.
Maybe we'll stay in P-Soho again on our return from our out of BA excursions, as we usually scope out our potential purchses in the beginning and actually buy before we leave.

San Isidro is just a pretty suburb of Buenos Aires. A day trip... it would only require you to make longer trips into town all the time to do other things. And it is about 45 minutes from BA .. more to the Airport.
I would base myself in BA and take lots of day trips with maybe an overnight in Iguazu ..
There is Colonia, Tigre, and Estancia, Iguazu Falls and maybe San Antonio de Areco ..
We were here for 2 weeks on our first visit and we never left the City... there is so much to do and see.
Of course, you have a year to fine tune this itinerary so more research and good maps is what you will need ..

Okay Scarlett, Thanks...headed to L.A to see to my sick brother but I will check in. I wonder why I get no response to the Home Hotel inquiry? I responded to their on-line request for info once and to their info@ E-mail address twice, two days ago. The E-mail didn't come back to me, so I know that it got somewhere....
