We can decide which resort to stay in Cancun. If we choose Ritz,6 nights total is $1500 in June and JW Marriott for 6 nights is $1050. DO you think that Ritz is worth $450 more to stay? Please share your thoughts.

I have stayed at both. imho, the JW Marriott and the RC are the two nicest hotels in Cancun, and you will be very happy with either one.
You did get very good rates for both, so why don't you visit their websites and see which one appeals to you more visually? (That's what I normally do when I cannot decide between two or more properties.)

i also had this decision for a trip next month and the ritz was only about $190 more but after reading all the reviews on tripadvisor.com on both of the hotels, i choose the JW. i believe they have the JW as no. 1 and ritz as no. 2 in cancun. i love the ritzs but i feel there are more restaurant oppertunities at the jw since it is also connected to the casa magna. beach is the same but jw pool is nicer.

We just returned from the JW Marriott over the Feb. 28th weekend. We got 2 air tix on AA via Miami(great flight times) and 3 nights at the JW for $1100 on Priceline vacations. We had an oceanfront room and were pleased with the beautiful soft sand and clear turquoise water. We were not prepared for the extremely high winds which definitely affected the beach experience as did very rough waters with riptides. Both my husband and I are strong swimmers so it was okay but we did see a child get carried quite a bit down the beach in a strong current and the lifeguards had to haul her out. She was fine in the end. We loved the JW. The service was excellent and our room was nice with a great view off of the balcony. While we would not return in the near future to Cancun(just not our style vacation), we could definitely recommend the hotel. Have a wonderful stay. Threehearts

threehearts, what did you specifically not like about cancun, i am also going to the jw next month and i realize that cancun is not your laid back resort town but i thought it would be a nice change from my usual quiet caribbean vacations. were the spring breakers crazy or was it just to crowded for a relaxing vacation. any imput would be appreciated

bobrxlx- We are used to Anguilla and off-season caribbean so lovely beach, more understated clientele and availability of privacy are top priorities for us when we go travel without out kids. We had never seen a "strip" before(meaning many hotels in a row) and decided that this type of resort experience is not for us. Spring breakers had just arrived as we were leaving and one night we could hear them screaming across to the caribbean side from the lagoon. I think we are just too old and tame for Cancun(40's). I have never looked good in a thong bathing suit and could be that I was just jealous(LOL). We did a disservice to Cancun by not exploring more so that I'm sure would add to someone else's experience there. Incidentally, we did not become ill or have any other unfortunate experiences, it just wasn't the understated style vacation that we especially enjoy. Threehearts

The first time I went to Cancun I stayed at the Ritz and it was wonderful Our room was ocean view with a huge balcony. The service was absolutely wonderful and it didn't matter where you were in the hotel. There was always someone there to help you with whatever you needed. I loved the two pools and the food at the pool/ocean area was great.
If we had not bought a timeshare (right next door to the Ritz) I would not stay anywhere else but the Ritz.
