3 months in South America any country tips

Going to spend 3 months in South America over Feb to April. Need some advice on the countries to visit. Thinking of heading in the Peru, Bolivia area as interested in the walks and sites. Also move down south as probably heading home after( South Africa) . Any hints or suggestions for me would be great, thanks.

Hello irvin: If tou are going to spend such a time in South america you shoul go to Buenos Aires, Argentina. It all depends on what are you looking for, but you will find a lot of interesting places to know, culture, fun and nightlife, and above all that, a very safe city. Don't miss it and Good luck!

South America has many different countries and if you want to taste some of them, you should see Peru, where you can see the ancient indian cultures and the native people of this continent. Brazil, the biggest and more diversified country, where you can find the mixture of indian european and african cutures. Rio, Salvador ,Ouro Preto, Sao Paulo, Foz do Iguacu, etc. You should also go to Argentina, where you can find very different scenaries from the tropical south america. You can go to Bs Aires, the Paris of Saouth America, or to Tierra del Fuego.

James...Don't know exactly what you're looking for but you are talking about one big continent. Like N America you could spend a lifetime exploring down there. You've got vast wilderness...big cities...nitelife...etc.etc. If its nature you're after the Manuel Antonio National Park in Costa Rica is hard to beat. The people are great..CR is great and the park is a national treasure. That's just one dot on a huge map. I envy you the time to take 3 months and go exploring. I had 25 years of exploring and am currently in a rest/recovery phase...hahaha. Have fun and let me know how it goes.

James,
For safety, choose from Chile, Argentina and Ecuador. For health (food, water, etc.) Argentina is tops, with Chile not far behind. For history and culture, Peru takes the cake. Unfortunately Lima is a bit of a hole. For value for money, Ecuador is right on top. For "zip" you cannot beat Brazil - pity about the language. Winter skiing is cheaper in Chile than in Argentina. If you want a jungle experience, consider some of the higher areas such as in Ecuador and Peru. The Amazonian (low) jungles are not that "pretty". For pretty ladies Caracas and Buenos Aires are great places for an hour at a sidewalk cafe. So there is something everywhere. It depends on what you want. I work in these countries, so I have a "longer term" view that those who have been on package tours.
