2 weeks in Panama and Costa Rica

Hello All!

I'm heading to Panama City on May 6th for 2 weeks and returning from San Jose. I just booked a super cheap flight on expedia for $350 return and can't wait to go!

There are 4 of us, all male, aged 24-26. I have done a lot of reading on many tourist attractions and must-see areas in both countries, but I would like to get some opinions from travellers who have seen these countries first hand.

We're interested in:
Sightseeing - (volcanoes, jungles/forests, white water rafting)
Fun beach towns with surfing (Montezuma? Bocas Del Toro?)
A few nights of partying
... AND ANYTHING ELSE YOU RECOMMEND!

What are some areas that we shouldn't miss and some that are a "waste of time"?

Also, if anyone is interested in meeting us along the way, let me know.

Thanks for your help!!

We're from Ontario, Canada but flying out of Detroit. Also, is the middle of May an alright time to go? I've read it's kind of between dry and wet seasons... might be hit or miss.

The Arenal area is pretty fun. Check out Sky Trek - some of the longest highest ziplines in the country, Arenal the active volcano, you can hike the waterfall and swim at the bottom, do the Cano Negro tour to see wildlife, white water raft with Rio Tropicales, go canyoning, and if you want a nice hike, go to the Hanging Bridges, a guide may help you spot wildlife. You'd also enjoy the natural hot springs like Tabacon and Eco Termales. I'd pair it with the beach town of your choice.

Thanks for the tips! Any beach towns you would recommend where we would find people around our age to hang out with for a few nights?

Jaco has the rep for being the biggest party town - it has a rep for being a little seedy too though. Maybe Tamarindo or Mal Pais? I hope someone else chimes in for you. Manuel Antonio is nice, but probably skews more family oriented than what you're looking for. There's also Puerto Viejo on the Carib. side.
