crellston-I'm hoping we can find torrentes in the DC area this summer. I did read about it upon our return and it seemed to be gaining some notice, but we had never had it b4 visiting the NW.

upon our return two years ago, we ordered cases from Colome's distributor, including one of Torrontes. Lucky us.

I guess it all comes down to your point of view. I come from N. Calif and there are some beautiful sites here; Yosemite, Lake Tahoe, San Francisco and more.

Wine is an almost daily experience for many of us. Sure I'll miss out on the NW, but I didn't want to miss out on the Wine Country. I still get a fantastic view of the Andes.

BTW - seeksocean. I love Calistoga, wine during the day natural mineral baths at night, and a lot of fine dining in the Valley.

Rastaguy, Once you leave BA ,how are you getting around, transportation-wise? More like, how are you getting to Mendoza? Where have you researched staying there, etc? Any other tips about your out of the area of BA jaunts would be appreciated.

Scarlett, which post of yours has all the packing tips that Magellen writes of, or are they in several posts?

Thanks all! -Seeks

Email me at [email protected]

I had difficulties getting emails from avrooster, so it may not work.

Put your screen name in the subject page, and then we can 'talk' about Mendoza and the like.

What about the patagonia region no-one has mentioned this probably because it is cool down there like in the 40'-50 but the southern ice fields in chile and argentina are the worlds largest after antarctica and Greenland and from what I can tell it is spectacular. I am taking a trip in late April with 4 days in BA and 10 days in Patagonia

"My two friends and I are planing a trip to Argentina from March 14th until the 28th. We only have two nights in Buenos Aires booked so far and would love some suggestions for our itinerary. We would like travel to be affordable and a mix of exploring and relaxing. We are thinking about Mendoza, the waterfalls or Uruguay beaches. ANy help or suggestions would be great- thanks!"

As usual, we all get sideways, and very quickly on these forums, myself included!

Set your itinerary, and set it soon. Let us know what you've decided upon.

We decided that a week in BsAs would be 'cool', with maybe a day trip to Colonia in Uruguay.

Then we are spending a total of 4 nights in the Pampas at estancia El Ombu and San Antonio de Areco.

We finish with three nights in Mendoza. I have personally booked 3 wineries a day, including ending with a winery tour / lunch each day. The wineries are very accomodating and easy to book.

We then stagger to the airport to board our plane back to the left coast through Santiago de Chile.
