1st time 2 weeks trip - itinerary help

Dears - planning first Argentina trip Dec 2-17. We are flexible in places to visit, but i'd rather we don't kill ourselvs trying to get from one place to another. Proposed itinerary: arrive and spend 4-5 days BA, 3 days falls, 4 days El Calafate. Should we spend more time in Patagonia or try to schedule Salta/NW? I am interested in unique Argentian travel experiences. Any all comments/critique are more than welcome.

Hi!

I would definitly try to fit in Salta area. I believe, 2 full days in Buenos Aires is enough, if you have a short time in Argentina. One full day at the Falls is all you need, unless you want to do other things in the area. Definitely do the ride under the falls...awesome.

As to Calafate, I would say 3 days and then you would also be going to other places. I have only been there once and am not familiar with it.

I loved my trip to Salta....very different and if you want something different, this area would be the place. Kathy

Ok - so if i do the following:

BA - overnight flight to BA, arrive am, stay 4nights (4.5 days)
falls - 2 nights
Salta - 4 nights
Patagonia - 4 nights
fly home late in pm.

Do i have too many places to cover and have too little time to enjoy each place? Will i miss the essence of the places? I may go to Chile next year and possibly could cover some areas in a combined trip from there...again, all critique/comments/suggestion are more than welcome!

Salta is well worth the 4 days if not more. It is a beautiful, natural part of Argentina that is often missed by tourists. The food, wine, sights, cultural history, native people, and local markets are fascinating. Let Angie give you more details.

Yes, is well worth 4 days. You will really find this area very interesting and different to anywhere you have stayed in. The weather is great, just have a look to Nicci`s report! You will love the area. Thank you; Kathy and CollegeMom!
