My Antivirus Hypothesis as Cause of the Posting Problems

Some people, me for instance, have no problems posting and replying. Others have problems only on certain devices. Others on all their devices. Since it is the same fodors for all, the problem thus should reside in differences between different devices. It does not seem to be browsers or operating systems.

Hypothesis: Antivirus Interference with Fodors:

There are many different antivirus programs, all with different levels of protection, different viral signature files, different personal settings, etc. If some antivirus programs erroneously recognize a particular Fodors function as malware after those antiviruses received an update with an antiviral signature that coincidently matched a portion of the Fodors program, those computers would block that Fodors function, while other computers using different antivirus settings would not. Thus some users on some devices are blocked. The problem would have started when the cross-reacting virus was detected and added to the signature files of the antivirus programs. (Hey, I'm medical and viruses are a medical analogy, so why not treat the posting problem like an immune disease.)

I got this idea when 2 other users mentioned antiviral interactions with Fodors, mentioning Kaspersky in one case and ESET in another.

I suggest that the tech team test multiple antiviral programs and settings in computers and other devices and see if there is a common immune error going on here. It's worth a try.

Glad to help. I would be interested to know if this turned out useful or not.

Does your BitDefender have HTTPS scanning feature enabled?

Other virus scanners mentioned on the "I can't reply" threads, Kaspersky and Eset, have that feature. The error messages for those users referred to certificate issues.

The feature is problematic:
See: https://blog.vpn.ac/disable-https-scanning.html

The Submit button on "Post a New Topic" is definitely doing something right that Submit for replies is not doing.

BitDefender Internet Security:
View Modules > Web Protection > Scan SSL
is Scan SSL enabled or disabled?

Actually, that is inaccurate, at least for me. When I can post (which is unpredictable and erratic), it is ONLY on Safari...never ever (not even once!) on Firefox or Chrome.
