Zurich Train Station Question

I am looking into the possibility of taking the train from Zurich Mid City to the Zurich airport. It looks like there is more than 1 "station" What is the name of the station that trains leave from for the Zurich airport. Can anyone help? Also, any idea how long it takes to get to the airport?
TIA

Airport, Flughafen, trains depart from the main station, Hauptbahnhof, abbr HB. There are 7 or 8 trains per hour. It takes 13 minutes. Operating from 05h02 to 11h17.

The S-bahn S16 goes from various stations to the airport. HB is just one of the stops on the route.

Stops include Zurich Tiefenbrunnen (20 min), Zurich Stadelhofen (16 min), Zurich HB (13 min), Zurich Hardbrucke (9 min), Zurich Oerlikon (4 min), and others that are further away.

Thank You so much all that replied. This is exactly the info I needed. The train should work great, Now need to work out getting to the Hauptbahnhof/ HB train station. I am not going to be in the main downtown area.

Indeed the Stadelhofen station in the heart of Zurich's actual center may be much more convenient for you than going to the sprawling maze-like Hauptbahnhof and may be closer to your hotel.

PalenQ, Are you very familiar with the area of the Zoo? Hotel Zurichberg, is where I'll be. I am on tram line 6, I know that much Any idea what my best way to the airport is at 0500 AM. At this point I am thinking taxi to train station - to airport. I have only a tram line map and can't really make out train stations on due to the language and abreviations.

Yes, that sounds about right. Is the HB station right for me then? Yes, I am thinking taxi TO THE TRAIN STATION. I think a taxi all the way to the airport will be quite expensive.

when do you have to check in?

Perhaps there are earlier and more frequent trains from Hauptbahnhof - especially earlier trains than from Stadelhofen, which is mainly for commuters i think

yes if schedules allow taxi to Hauptbahnhof though the airport is only a few miles out and with baggage and all may make more cent$ if a few buck$ more. I'd do the taxi for any check-in before 8am but heck i don't know the train schedules.

schedules at www.sbb.ch - Swiss rail web site

From the map, both Zurich HB and Zurich Stadelhofen are about same distance from the Hotel Zurichberg. 1.5 mile as the crow flies. The airport isn't that far. About 5-6 miles. Don't know the cost of the taxi, but may not be THAT much.
