Zurich restaurants for Christmas lunch

Hi fellow fodorites

Looking for a recommendations, in Zurich, for Christmas lunch or dinner.

My favourite Aunt & Uncle who live in the UK are celebrating Christmas in Zurich and will stay at the Mariott for a few days. The hotel has a Christmas day lunch for 75 UK pounds pp which we all thought was a bit steep!

Anyone out there have a favourite hang-out which serves great food, is not so expensive as the Marriott and is open for Christmas day trading! Many thanks for replies!

Good morning, Lyndie
Have on numerous occasions in the past used the ristorante BINDELLA, Honggertrasse, 115, it is located about a 1/4 of a block east of the Paradeplatz. It is a extremely fine
Italian ristorante with excellant food.
Resverations are a must....Richard of LaGrange Park, Il..

Bindella would be a good idea, though I'm not sure that they'll be open on Christmas day - I would give them a call (as I would for all other suggestions). Anyway, the address is NOT Hönggerstrasse (that's where a wine dealership and real estate co. owned by the same family are located), but:
In Gassen 6

Phone: +41 1 221 25 46

Another good Italian place downtown is Cantinetta Antinori, at Augustinergasse 25.

The Kronenhalle is a landmark institution in Zurich. Great art on the walls, good traditional food.

Another Zurich institution is Hiltl, a very casual vegetarian place. As far as I know, they are open 365 days a year.

Will post some other suggestions when I think of them ;-)

Hope this helps,
Andre

Thanks very much to you both for the info. I've suggested they buy a city guide, however personal recommendations are, by far, the best option, in my experience.

Andre, if you think of others, I'd love to know.

All the very best to you both!
