Zurich--recommendations for 3 day stay?

We will be going to Zurich in December of this year and would like to get suggestions for activities during our 3 day stay.

We have never been and want to see and do things that would be the most memorable and fun.

We will be with two other like-minded couples as well.

Any suggestions/itineraries, etc. would be most appreciated.

We will be staying a short distance from the central train station.

Thanks to anyone who responds!

Hi dd,

Have you looked up Zurich under "Destinations"?

Do you already have a hotel?

Yes, we have a hotel (Marriott Zurich...points).

Yes, on the destinations, I just wanted to get some other independent views on best itinerary.

Several museums are well worth visiting. The Kunsthaus Zurich is excellent and the Landesmuseum, just across from the train station, is also great. The University has a few smaller unusual museums - the one I remember is devoted to the history of medicine. You could also take one of the frequent trains out of town to Winterthur (half-hour or so) and do the museum tour there - the Oskar Reinhart Collection am Romerholz is generally regarded as one of the finest small museums in Europe.

Zeughauskeller is fun for the beer and sausage thing, along with some other local specialties, and we particularly like the tapas downstairs at Bodega Espanola, as well as the fancier restaurant upstairs.

Zurich is such a lovely city. You can spend an afternoon or two walking through the old town then sit at one of the cafes for an authentic cheese fondue and a glass of white wine.

City Tour daily at 3PM-start at Tourist Info office in Hauptbahnhof. They will tailor language to participants.
Get the Zuerichkarte (24 hour or 72 hour) for reductions on city tour, free city transit (including up to local mountain Uetliberg), most free museum entrances and a "free" drink at participating cafes (can view benefits at city website).
35 minutes away is town of Rapperswil with town castle (greatly limited hours off-season) or one hour train to Einsiedeln with rococco monastery housing famous "Black Madonna".
If you click on my name, search for trip reports which included Zuerich and environs twice last year (June and November) for personal city tips!

I was just going to post the question, "Is Zurich worth an overnight?"
