I see that you have posted many questions about Zurich and environs including a question of whether Florence is doable from Zurich. I live in Zurich. I don't know if you are expecting Zurich to be a large urban city like US cities. Zurich is basically a very small town (450,000 people, which is less than half the size of Washington DC) with about 3 skyscrapers of maybe 8 stories each. The town is relentlessly charming. It mostly consists of 2-3 story baroque, medieval and renaissance buildings, esp. the main areas around the river and the lake. It has cobblestone streets, street trams, and the main shopping street, the Banhofstrasse is car-free. It has numerous world-class museums. It is extremely walkable. There are a myriad of cultural activities and lots of outdoor restaurants. You may be thinking you have to leave Zurich to see quaint villages, but you really will find a lot of that in Zurich.

As mentioned in previous posts, many shops, restaurants and museums will be closed on 18 April. You may find many places close at Noon on 17 April and don't open again until Tuesday 22 April. This will be the case in all places in Europe, including Italy, so you need to fit this into your schedule.
