Zurich hotels
I will be in Zurich in July (sort-of work and very short holiday). Can anyone recommend a good inexpensive hotel?

Inexpensive and Zuerich don't belong in the same sentence.

The Pension St. Josef offers very basic accommodations at a very low price for Zürich, and not far from the train station. Rates as low as CHF75 for a single without bath, with hearty Swiss-style buffet breakfast.
PH: 01 250 57 57 - Fax: 01 251 28 08

Ed

I ended up in Zurich for a day after a business trip once. I stayed at the Bristol Hotel, a few blocks from the train station. It was perfectly adequate, mainly occupied by German-speaking businessmen, but the concierges were pleasant and spoke French and English. There is nothing spectacular about the place, but it was close to tourist spots, shoppping, and the train that would take me to the airport, so it served my purposes. I believe I spent about US$70 for one night.

Go to the official Zurich site: www.zurichtourism.ch (click english version). But, inexepensive hotels in Zurich - never heard of that and I live here. But the youth hostel seems to be quite nice, although a bit out of the very center. Good luck and don't miss a trip on the lake!

When I had had to remain in Zurich an unplanned extra week (with no additional funding!!) I found the Walhalla very near the train station. Stayed one night in the hotel and a week in their "guest house" across the street. Hotel was OK, guest house was basic but very clean, safe, and serviceable, and by Zurich standards price was great. Location is terrific, staff were kind and efficient. You can find on www.zurichtourism.ch, there's an English version and hotel search function. Zurich is not cheap, but it is a great place to visit. Get a transit pass and roam around!
