Zurich Hauptbahnhof map?

Does anyone know where to find a HBH map on the web? Specifically, I have read that there are showers available (and at the airport) and would like to know how to find them if we have time to freshen up before boarding a train for Rome. The only HBH map I have found is on the marinello web site which highlights their location. This map shows what looks to be a rather large area marked "WC". Might showers be located there? Am I on the right (pardon the pun) track? There is an older thread that gives the location of showers at the airport if they are still available. Thank you.

Rookie,

Here's a map (with legend in german only):
http://www.rail.ch/pv/files/plaene/zuerich_hb.pdf

There are showers in the "McClean" complex located on the upper basement level. Take the escalators in the main hall which lead to the WCs and luggage lockers, NOT the ones to the shopping and underground tracks, as the latter go straight down to the 2nd basement level.

Hope this helps,
Andre

I wouldn't worry too much about finding the exact location beforehand. Everything is clearly marked with large multilingual signs. You won't have any trouble finding them when you arrive.

Andre - thanks very much for the map - its great.

Ken - thanks for the reassurance. I think knowing the correct level and general directions ahead of time will be helpful. I wasn't sure if they would be prominently advertized or if you have to know to look for them.

You're very welcome, Rookie!

After your shower, be sure to buy some "Champagner-Luxemburgerli" (mini-macaroons with a chocolate/champagne filling) at Sprungli - there are 2 locations in the station, see the map. Be forewarned, though - they're highly addictive!

If you also want to buy cheap(er) non-alcoholic drinks and snacks for the trip, there's a small Migros supermarket in the lower basement level (which is a bit of a maze).

Wow, Andre, great job!! I've been looking for that map on the sbb site, on Zurich sites, on Zurich tourism sites, everywhere I could think of. I've done google searches out the ****. I just assumed it didn't exist. So thank you, thank you, thank you!

And thank you, Rookie, for being smart enough to ask the question!

ditto from me, Andre.

Wow folks, it's just a map ;-)

Anyway, thanks for the kudos.

The german-language version of the SBB web site has numerous station maps (this seems to be a new feature). To get to them, click "Reisen / Fahrplan" on the home page, then "Bahnhofsplaene" on the right side, in the "News+Events" box.

Hope this helps,
Andre

Andre - (or anyone else who knows)
What is different between Migros and Marinello? You describe Migros as a "supermarket" and Marinello has been described as a "grocery". And your description of "Champagner-Luxemburgerli" is mouth-watering!!!

Andre Apr 28th, 2003 09:08 AM

Rookie,

Migros is a normal supermarket chain, except that it doesn't sell any alcoholic beverages. Their branch in the train station is much smaller than most others though.

Marinello is more of a fine foods store - with nicer merchandise but higher prices than Migros of course...

Hope this helps,
Andre
