zurich

I am trying to finalize our Switzerland trip. Zurich does not look that appealing although we are flying out of there.I was just thinking that we could drop our car in Luzern and then I think take a direct train to the airport in Zurich. What are your thoughts, would you spend the time going in to Zurich or forget it.

That plan worked well for me. Trains leave early and often from Luzern directly to the Zurich airport. They take about 75 minutes and leave about every 30 minutes.

Zurich is a nice city - I wouldn't mind living there - but on a typical Swiss itinerary a visitor's time is better spent elsewhere.

I visited Zurich for a few hours as a side trip from Germany. I thought it was a charming city, actually. Very expensive, though, but I suppose that's true of the entire country. I didn't spend any money in Zurich while I was there! (I had only Euros anyway.)

I don't think it would be a mistake to spend at least a few hours in Zurich, unless it's an inconvenient detour or you simply have too many other things to do and can't fit it in. I certainly wouldn't skip it only because you heard it wasn't appealing.

I thought Zurich seriously underrated. But whether it makes sense to visit it or skip it really depends on your interests and your overall itinerary.

I enjoyed Zurich, although I wouldn't trade time in the mountains for time in a city.
