Zermatt, Switzerland
 

How does one activate and use the Swiss Transfer ticket? I am unable to locate a simple BnB in Zermatt, only find hotels and weekly rental locations. Are there "Zimmer frei" lodging possible in Zermatt ?
I would like suggestions for activities in Zermatt, hike, events or mountain excursions.

There is one B&B listed in Zermatt at the website

www.bnb.ch

so you could check out that one.

The town's website (www.zermatt.ch) only lists hotels and apartments, no pensions or guesthouses or zimmers, so I'm not sure what you'll find. I would not be willing to wing it and hope for a "zimmer frei."

What about the possibly somewhat cheaper town of Taesch, 5 km away, frequent transfers to Zermatt?

Well, that url looks huge--it is for the Hotel Bahnhof==as you might infer, directly across from the train station.
