Zermatt - Kleine Scheidegg

I am taking the Glaciel express in summer from St. Moritz to Zermatt.

After reaching Zermatt at 4 pm I want to go to kleine scheidegg the same day and stay overnight. I read that cars are not allowed in kleine scheidegg and there are very few trains after 5 pm. What are my options? Should I stay at Grindelwald at night?

I want to cover Jungfrau in the morning, then come to Grindelwald take a cable car ride to männlichen and then hike back to kleine scheidegg. Is this doable in 1 day?

Thanks

What you want to do is impossible. Kleine Scheidegg is a two hour plus train journey from Zermatt, in fact it is over two hours from Zermmatt to Interlaken Ost and another hour to KS. I would suggest you stay overnight in Zermatt and then travel to either Wengen or Grindelwald the following day and then depending on weather conditions go to Jungraujoch and the next day take the cable car to Mannlichen and do the hike.

I don't understand:
why do you want to go to Zermatt, the Swiss town close to the highest mountains and the most famous glaciers, if you plan to backtrack immediately after your arrival in order to go to Grindelwald?

Most scenic itinerary:
leave the Glacier Express at Andermatt ar 12.50, have lunch and go on at 14.37 by train to Oberwald and from there by Swiss Post Bus over the Grimsel Pass to Meiringen and finally by train to Interlaken - Lauterbrunnen - Kleine Scheidegg ar 19.20

Fastest itinerary:
leave the Glacier Express at Brig ar 14.40 and go on by train via Spiez - Interlaken - Lauterbrunnen to Kleine Scheidegg ar 17.20

Zermatt Valley itineray:
Leave the Glacier Express at St. Niklaus ar 15.24, go immediately back to Visp with the next train and continue via Spiez - Interlaken - Lauterbrunnen to Kleine Scheidegg ar 19.20

The last train to Grindelwald only leaves Zermatt at 20.13.
If you prefer to change trains at Zermatt without going out of the railway station building, you may begin the backtracking at 16.37, with arrival at Grindelwald at 19.39.

"I want to cover a Jungfrau in the morning, then come to Grindelwald take a cable car ride to männlichen and then hike back to kleine scheidegg"

It's feasible, but it would be much easier to leave the train at Kleine Scheidegg and to hike to Maennlichen and back (I suppose you want to spend a second night at Kleine Scheidegg, otherwise the whole thing wouldn't make any sense).

You need to be aware that you can't decide to ascend a mountain in advance. The weather is often very bad - or uneven - at the top and if you want to see anything you have to wait until you get a day clear at the top - which you won;t know until that AM. We spent 3 days staying in Interlaken waiting for a day that is clear at the top.

We had a car and spent the time visiting Thun, Brienz, Gruyere and a couple of other towns and a lake steamer in the days we were waiting. But this was in early June.

What you want to do is very weather dependent - so you need more days to be sure you can do what you want.

The train to Jungfraujoch departs from Kleine Scheidegg.

To get to Grindelwald from KS you have to take the train.

There is no cable car at Kleine Scheidegg.

The cable car to Mannlichen is at Wengen.

You would take gondolas to Mannlichen from Grindelwald.

You plan would work better if you hiked (uphill) from KS to Mannlichen then took a gondola back to Grindelwald.

Here is train schedule:

You don't say when you are going. But, I will warn you that the trail from Mannlichen to KS could be very muddy.
