Zermatt info
I know I could just look this up in a guide book, but would like to hear from you...what currency is more widely used in Zermatt, Euro or CHF?
Also which languege is spoken the most? Thanks for your help. |
Swiss franc.
Officially German (Swiss-German, which has local differences from standard German) language, but English and French too. |
Thanks Elaine.

English will not be a problem anywhere you go in Zermatt. Most of the people I come in contact there speak French, Swiss German and English.
|
How about ATMs, I assume that like most other areas there are lots of them around? The reason I asked the initial question was to decide what to exchange US dollars for, Euro or Swiss Francs since we will only be in Switzerland this trip.

Do NOT bother with Euros if you are going to be in Switzerland, and that would include your time in Zermatt.
I would agree that you'll have no problem communicating in English just about anywhere in the village. You'll also find some folks who speak Italian since a goodly number of the hotel workers are from Italy or Ticino. |
Finding an ATM should be no problem. The Swiss phrase for ATMs is "Bancomat", by the way.

All good info. Thanks to you all.
