zermatt hotel
Hello everybody! I've been trying to get a hotel in Zermatt from July 31-August 2. I understand its a holiday so most places I have tried have said there weren't any rooms available. I am on a pretty tight budget, and was looking for singles in the 60-90 CHF range. I found four total, and all four have said they didn't have rooms available. The problem is that I can't find any more places that are in this price range. So far, I have tried the Hotel Primavera, the Alphubel, the Tannenhof, and the Weisshorn. Can anyone else recommend another? It doesn't need to be very nice at all, just clean and safe is all that really matters to me at this point.

Hello Archer,
Have you been to www.zermatt.ch? Under the lodging section, you can choose the star rating of lodging you'd like. Just as an example, the first one I went to (Hotel Mischabel) shows availability for your nights for a single at CHF65, including breakfast, only a short walk from the station. Hope this helps! |
Slight clarification.
Hotel Mischabel is under the one star hotels. |
Thank you so much Kopp! You know, I had checked on zermatt.ch before, but I guess I must have skipped over this one the first time around and I didn't think to check back! Thank you very much, I appreciate it!

I have made good expierences with the tourist office. Give them a call and ask for a list of accommodations, who have reported availablility during your travel time.
Consider also to rent an appartment. This is very common in Switzerland. August is peak travel time because of school holidays in most countries in Europe. |
Many years ago travelling with our family we stayed at the Bahnhof--a hotel right across the street from the station. It was clean and pleasant. I looked it up--apparently the shower is on the hall, but there were bathrooms in the room.

Hello everybody! Well, I looked at a bunch of options and right now I have offers from two places: the Hotel Mischabel for 65 a night, and the Hotel Darioli for 80 a night. Has anyone stayed at either of these places? I could also stay at the Hotel Bahnhof as Gretchen suggested, their website still shows some availability.

For what it is worth, there ser several reviews of the Darioli on Trip Advisor.
I would stay anywhere that looks good given the lack of availability. If you have never been there don't forget, the village is rather small and easily walkable from just about any point. Some folks even stay down in Tasch to save money and take one of the frequent rail shuttles back and forth. Enjoy your stay and hopefully the weather will be good "up at the top" for views of the Matterhorn. |
