We are looking for a place to stay , while
in Zermatt , during the first week of August.
Any suggestions would be appreciated.

The Grand Hotel Zermatterhof was very nice with great views.

If you enter Zermatt in the search box, you will see many previous discussions of Zermatt hotels. I have "topped" a more recent one, but using the search tool will be your most efficient means to obtain information.

Having said all that, I will strongly recommend the Hotel Allalin. My first Zermatt trip was a weeklong stay in April and the hotel was tremendous!

There are lots of nice places - some at E300+ per night and some at a much lesser tariff. We stayed at Jagerhof (or similar spelling) a few years back in a loft studio with a view of the Matterhorn. It was great value for money at the time.

We are actually going back to Zermatt for the second time. We would highly recommend the hotel we stayed at last time. We are staying there again this time.It is the Hotel Europe (Marianne & Rudi Julen) www.europe-zermatt.ch Spectacular views of the Matterhorn from our room, great buffet breakfast, and you have access to the health club and spa next door at the Hotel Julen (4 or 5 star hotel). We would highly recommend. Have fun!

Good morning, over the years have stayed at the MONTE ROSA and the SCHWEIZERHOF. Both hotels excellant, the MONTE ROSA being much older, however did have a view of the Matterhorn from its window, however the
SCHWEIZERHOF, much newer had an excellant swimming pool located in its basement. Can recommend both.

Hi there I am re posting this for you, we were thrilled with this hotel. We stayed at the Romantik Hotel Julen for 2 nights in June and I was very happy with it. We got it for a great price. They have an INCREDIBLE spa and pool that guests may use, the spa has a "wondershower" sauna, two gorgeous aromatherapy rooms which are domed and completed in gold mosaic tile and marble. Lovely suites. Have fun. Here is the website.

Hello again!

I forgot to mention that Zermatt has a tremendous Web site that will help you greatly in your search for accommodations.

One thing you should know is that hotels in Zermatt are divided into two types: Hotel Garni (which means bed and breakfast) and Hotels (which COULD include dinner as well in their posted rates). The Web site will show you locations, ratings, links to the Hotel themselves, and an online booking service as well!

The Zermatt page is truly a well designed page very useful for anyone visiting this magical place.

Here is the link to the Zermatt page:

Happy travels!
