I started to research the Slovakian side of the Tatras and it sounds like a major storm leveled a lot of trees in the area and it doesn't look the same anymore?

It also sounds like an already lengthy trip (coming from Warsaw that a.m.) would be made at least a couple hours longer if we want to cross over and stay on the Slovakian side.

Thoughts?

I'd be inclined to spend one night on the way from Warsaw either in Krakow or Zakopane. There were sections with trees down on the Slovakian side, but that wasn't the case everywhere. I did a couple of hikes that got me into the trees. See my trip report linked above, and for photos of Slovakia: http://kwilhelm.smugmug.com/Travel/E...Smokovec-Tatra - the first photo shows the results of the storm, but that was in 2006, things probably look different now.
