Zagreb Airport to Ljubljana - Help!
 

Hi!

I've been lurking for a while but I really need help as my exhaustive searches online have come up short.

I will be renting a car in Croatia and will be dropping it off prior to heading to Ljubljana. The closest available drop-off point was the Zagreb airport.

For some reason, I am having difficulty finding the best way to get from the Zagreb airport to Ljubljana.

Any ideas?

Take the airport shuttle into Zagreb city - you can travel to Ljubljana by bus or train.

Try GoOpti. I have not used them, but they seem to be highly regarded by Slovenes:

They offer a variety of options, the cheapest being a shared shuttle service. The downside is that they don't give you a set pick-up time until about 24 hours before they pick you up. You have to give them a time range (for the shared option), so they can try to group different shared passengers. But as you are not arriving on a flight, you can time your rental car drop-off with the arrival time you get the day before.

I might ask a side question: what car company are you renting from that only has a drop-off at Zagreb Airport? I did drop mine off there in May, but that's because I was flying out. I had the option to drop it near the train station or a hotel. I rented with Oryx, which I booked via EconomyCarRentals.

Like Andrew, I'm wondering what car rental agency you are using. IIFC, there are many rental car companies with drop-off points near the train station in Zabreb.

Failing that, I'm with julia_t -- it shouldn't be hard to get into Zagreb, and from there, it is easy to reach Ljubljana.
