youth hostels in Paris

I'm considering staying at the D'Artagnan youth hostel (80 rue Vitruve near the Porte de Bagnolet subway station) for 5 nights in August with my 3 girls (aged 11, 14 and 16) I need to know whether or not this is a decent hostel to stay at with my girls and how accessible/close to central Paris is the hostel - any help is greatly appreciated!
cheers, Annie

I'm not familiar with it but there several reviews at this website:

see hostel reviews/paris and scroll down.

If this one doesn't work out I can recommend this one in the Marais. I thought it was quite nice for a hostel.
It is also reviewed on BUG.

Oh, I should mention - the hostel above has 3 buildings all right in the same area. I was placed in Fourcey and it was nice. It is often full, so if you choose it do book in advance.

I add my vey enthusiastic vote for the MIJE hostels. (I've stayed in Fourcy.) Both Lonely planet and Rick Steves call them the best budget lodging in Paris. The location is ideal and staying in a renovated 17th-century private mansion is an experinece in itself. Many school groups use these hostels so there is no "party atmosphere" to contend with.

I thought youth hostels had an age limit of 26, and I've never seen children at any when I was younger. When did this change?

Try checking it out on tripadvisor.com

Only a few hostels have age limits, and most of those are in Bavaria (although they've loosened the rules recently).
