I am sure that some hostels, just like some hotels are disgusting however, this is a broad generalization and without any proof to back it up should just be discarded. I leave in 19 days for a month long trip to Europe and am spending most nights in a hostel. Check out Hostelling International's website: www.iyhf.org <BR>They are a non-profit organization that has thousands of hostels worldwide. Their standards are higher than those of independent hostellers which means CLEAN andd quite habitable. <BR>Good luck!
