Your opinion- can I beat $600 NYC-Paris?

Hello! We are going on our honeymoon on May 30, returning either June 12 or June 13. After an airline schedule change, we're starting over and will probably fly in and out of Paris, then take EasyJet to Italy for the bulk of our stay (and spend a few days in Paris).

Given those dates, can I beat a $590 flight from the NYC area non-stop to Paris? I was hoping those of you who have been watching flights for a while can offer some helpful advice!

Thank you.

Can you beat it? Probably. Should you try? I don't think so.

You may be able to knock off a few bucks, but by doing so you risk losing a berry, berry good fare.

Unless, of course, you can lock it now and abandon it without penalty (which I doubt).

I have been pricing the same from Boston, and think you should grab this.

I think for that time of year it's a good fare. Because it's a honeymoon, your dates are not exactly flexible as they might be for just any vacation, and you don't want to wait around to try for some last-minute bargain that may not happen. I think you should book it, and move on to another decision. Congratulations on the wedding.

Thanks everyone! I actually went back to book the flight, and found an "Expedia bargain fare" for $535- even better. So we went with that. We'll be flying Swiss Air.

Thank you for the advice! I'm a very satisfied honeymooner

Wow, I'm impressed by that fare. We've been searching for something from Philadelphia (nonstop), although we'd consider Newark or Baltimore, for mid June and the best we've been able to come up with has been in the $800-$900 range.

What airport will you fly from?

Hello! We found the fare from JFK. I was also looking for Newark, but found the same price range as you.

Try www.sidestep.com- it's good for comparing.

Good luck!

We just booked air for the end of April for $542 pp non stop from Phila. on USAirways. I'm trusting that they will be flying and doing just fine then. Air France from Phila. dropped their fares to the same price a few days after we booked. Continental had the best rates non-stop from Newark at $504. This was just last week-about 9 weeks out. Your rates are not bad-just depends if you can wait or not. Good luck.

I've checked JFK, PHL, EWK, and BWI. Nothing lower than $914 or so.

The problem is that we're going fairly late in June and one of our flights needs to be on a weekend.

We may end up doing a Fly & Drive package with go-today.com.

Apropos de rien, May 30 is our wedding anniversary and so it was the first day of our honeymoon, too. Six years ago!

May you have a wonderful honeymoon and an even more wonderful marriage.

TarHeelsInNJ (and others):

I wouldn't want to spoil your party but apparently you prefer feeling at ease to saving some money. That's your choice. Yet, you folks are still 3 months + away from departure. A little patience, and you'll find that those fares will come down a month further out- and there may be some sales in between as well. Anything more than a $475 fare is probably too much. Then again- it's your call.

I think its crazy that the fare from jfk
to cdg for may is like $825.00. We are going May 18 lax to cdg for $643.00 each
non stop. I just can't understand the airlines pricing. if you can get a fare of $590.00 I would take it now.

Looks like you already got a great deal. However, for those still looking, I bought tickets on Icelandair, June 9 thru 17 (Tampa to Paris) for $576. I was tired of waiting for the prices to get better and this looked pretty good.

I meant from Orlando to Paris. I am so use to leaving out of Tampa. I hope I remember when it is time to drive to the airport.

TarheelsInNJ:

It's been 2 weeks since the last posts. You probably have purchased your ticket, but to show you that prices have indeed declined (even after 2 weeks):

Roundtrip, depart May 30, return June 13
Swiss Air: JFK to CDG with one stop: $537.00

Air India: Newark to CDG (non-stop both ways) $453.00- check out cheaptickets.com

Thanks, zola. You're correct, I did purchase my tickets (see above post). I actually found an even better deal, at $535 each way. I had also seen the Air India flight, but given the mixed reviews, chose to avoid it.

Your point is well-taken about feeling at ease vs. saving money. For our honeymoon, a comfortable combination of the two was in order!

Last September 26, GRR to CDG via ORD and DFW, - $490 RT (return Oct 6). Saved money, spent energy. But not on a honeymoon.
