FIVE trips scheduled! The most I have ever had lined up is three, and I live in Europe.

Berlin this week; Lyon in December. Probably Brittany in the spring. After that, who knows? I don't.

Centralmainer - wow! Five trips in such a short time. Good for you! Do you live in Europe? We normally do one or two a year and live in Canada.

travel2live2...

No, I live in New England. This year I have been very fortunate in being able to schedule these trips. I hope that my good luck continues!

Morocco

Thailand

Turkey

India

Egypt

Hope to fit in a working visit to France next year and possibly a trip to the UK in 2009.

Having spent a good deal of my vacation time over the last twenty years travelling to Europe, I'd like to see some of the world's funkier places before I get too old.

November 2007 -- Channel Islands (Guernsey and Jersey)

August 2008 -- Azerbaijan, Armenia and Georgia (technically "Asia", but considered European countries by SkyTeam for mileage purposes -- only 50,000 miles from US to the Caucasus)

November 2008 -- Mallorca and Andorra

August 2009 -- Scotland (with Shetland and Orkney Islands) (and maybe visit to Faroe Islands)

Only the first two are ticketed (with the second two in the planning stages).

Ok:

I'm probably one of the most planned of all. Not all of these are Europe though:

Finishing up 2007 with a week in Mexico in Dec

2008: South Africa and Botswana ( all ticketed and all set)

2009; Hawaii, Australia and New Zealand

and

Israel and Egypt

2010: Now is the start of our official retirement, so we may actually end up going to Europe ( 1st choice) or somewhere else for May, June and July each year. For the winter we are planning on staying 2 months in either Buenos Aires or Thailand or Florida ( will probably just change it up each year) But if not here is what we have planned, we are just going to assume a one long trip per year with sprinkling of other short trips:

2010: Turkey and Rhodes( Simi, etc)
2011; Sicily and Sardinia
2012: Shanghai( been to other places in China), Cambodia, Vietnam and Thai beaches
2013: India and Maldives
2014: Peru, Ecuador and Chile( if we spend one of the winters in Buenos Aires, we might just travel to these countries while we are staying down in south america)
2015: Kenya and Tanzania( but this might move up if we become enamoured with Africa after this first trip in May 2008)

If we end up living in Europe for 3 months a year, we figured we probably start with France, since we've been there alot, base ourselves in Paris and take weekend trips to Burgundy, Bordeaux, Biarritz, etc.

Then we will probably go to Italy and base ourselves either in Rome or Florence and take weekend trips

Same then with Spain and Greece.

These four are our favorite Europe destinations.

We are not fond of Germany. Found Holland, Belgium, Austria, Czech Rep, and Switzerland really great( been to them more than once), there is little desire to really go back. And while we've been to most of the Eastern European countries with the exception of Croatia, we probably won't find ourselves re-exploring too much of Eastern Europe.

I know this overly planned and life can intervene anytime with a curve ball, but we love to plan and we make all our trips happen because we do

Don't dream, do: our motto!

Budapest (Hungary) is an EXCELLENT city- gorgeous, relatively cheap, and super nice (and English speaking) people.

I would vote for Krakow (not Warsaw), which is an enchanting medieval city. If you go to Warsaw, though, be sure to ditch the city and take a train trip up to Gdansk on the northern coast- looks like Scandinavia at 1/2 the price and super historic.

May 2008 - short trip to Paris

September 2009 - Santorini for our 10th wedding anniversary (along with 1 or 2 other Greek islands)

Other trips on the board are Ireland, Germany/Austria, and Italy again. We hope to choose one of these for September 2008, and then others to follow, God willing, 2010 and forward!
