Your favorite resturants in London?

What are you favorite restaurants in London and why?

Looking for a place to take my husband on his birthday while visiting. We will be staying in the Bayswater area on Kensington Gardens Square street - so accessibility whether by foot, tube etc is preferred.

Thanks!

There are thousands of restaurants in London. It might be a good idea to offer some hints as to budget and type of food, as mentioned above. Prepare to pay for the pleasure!

budget approx $100 - $120 (including wine, not necessarily a bottle but at least 2 glasses) for 2 people

staying in Bayswater, so perhaps something with easy access to that area but open to traveling as long as accessible through public transportation

type of food, well not Italian (we will be heading to Italy during this trip) and not Indian - open to anything else

Prefer something unique whether different from American style restaurant; the ambiance of the restaurant; the view; the music; the people (we love going and experiencing places the locals visit) etc

Lots of options in Notting Hill - The Electric, Bumpkin, the Cow. Googling any of these places will bring you loads of options. I really like Roka on Charlotte Street for sushi and you can make you budget if you order carefully. Crazy Bear is great thai near Charlotte Street as well.

Consider El Piratas de Tapas in Bayswater, on Westbourne Grove. I've only been to their original place in Mayfair, which was good buy noisy, and the Bayswater venue appears to be much quieter.

Also consider Suze in Mayfair, a New Zealand restaurant, in -- surprise! -- Mayfair. But I confess I haven't been there. It just always seems to pull solid reviews and has fair prices. I like wine and mussels, so it appeals to me. But lamb I would guess is the other big item.
