I fourth the San Sebastian suggestion.
But then I am a rather odd Australian who loves body surfing and beach running and leisurely dining al fresco and cycling tours to neighbouring villages and buying vinos tintos in little bars for congenial strangers, and wouldn't cross the road to see the Alhambra, no matter what size the -bra.

I have a new target: Frank Gehry (of Bilbao's Guggenheim fame) designed a modernistic building (looks like a wild mushroom) for the Marques de Riscal winery in la Rioja. It's not just a bodega: it's going to house a 5-star Hotel/Resort.
I just saw a report about it on the TV, and it looks really impressive.
I could spend several days there laying back and drinking the Marques de Riscal Rioja Reserva

I just fell in love with BARCLONA.
What time of year are you thinking of for your trip robersmyth?
I am off to Madrid at the end of November so I am excited to return to Spain, and experience another type of experience in Spain.
I plan on a day trip to SEGOVIA, and would love to hear more about Candido restaurant that "LaClaire" has mentioned.Of if others have great suggestions on additonal restaurants, It would be appreciated as well.
