Tom

wow, are those nice! such color and clarity!

This was with my new Canon SD800. I used the little Manfrotto 709 tripod Olegis mentioned on another thread.

For all that I brought the "extra firepower" of my new Canon 30D and new prime lens to go with it... I mostly carried my SD800. It took really good shots - a good little camera! Thank you for the kudos.

Mimi - you can send her the link - thank you! Glad you liked it.

I am still going through my MANY photos. It's insanity. Mom took tons too - the dangers of digital!

flygirl,

Glad you liked the shots. Where did you get the Manfrotto 709 and how much did you pay for it? I need to pick one up for my trip to Rome and Paris.

I can't recall - online - maybe Beach Camera? It was under 30 bucks. It's small enough (and light enough!!) to fit into my purse and there it stayed the whole trip - I used it any time the lighting was low enough that I couldn't go handheld.

I gotta give a high thumbs up to the IS on the SD800 - I could "handhold" the camera at 1/15 without much issue. In fact a few times I did even at 1/10 although it's not perfect.

Flygirl: We've eaten there twice (ten years apart), and our daytime version of that same shot has been adorning our family room wall for over 15 years!

Here it is:

A close-up shot of a gypsy girl, about 5 yrs old, in Siena holding a pigeon, while smiling sweetly into the camera.

Everyone comments on this striking pose that looks right out of national geographic. But the reason I love it is not just because the girl looks so precious,

but because only I know that moments before I took the picture, she was bashing the head of that pigeon against the piazza steps- while happily chatting away as if she were playing tea with her dollies.

My blonde haired, blue-eyed daughter was about a year old. She was sitting next to a little Chinese boy in Beijing (oviously he had dark hair) and he had a little slit in his pants for...impromptu potty needs. His little friend was peaking through, but neither of the little ones noticed or seemed to mind!

The landscape of Cappadocia, Turkey is extraordinary. Often described as lunar landscape -http://tinyurl.com/ypvslo

There is also "Love Valley" - http://tinyurl.com/2b9dal. No comment.

As flygirl said, one of the dangers of digital is sooooooooo many pictures to go through.

But one bonus is I can use the computer to do one of my favorite forms of photography, Sepia Tone. But without the mess and that gawd awful smell!!

I have been playing around the last couple days and here is one of my favorites:

Tom, those are wonderful! I still have not gone through all my photos - now it looks like I may have to try to use sepia on some.
