Favorite tourist-friendly cities: Florence, Italy. Urbino, Italy. (a small very Renaissance town in Le Marche region of Italy--definitely worth a day trip if Italy is where you are headed!), Dublin, Ireland. Norwich, England. London, England. Delphi, Greece.

I've also heard wonderful things about Assisi, Italy and my parents visited Orvieto, Italy and found it quite charming. If you speak a little Italian, head to Macerata, Italy to be immersed in a little bit of Italian culture.

geocities.com/j_goyette/t.html

Of the ones I have visited, I would say Prague, Paris, and Vienna are musts. A week in Paris, 3-4 days in Prague the same in Vienna. I also like Budapest a lot for its architecture (especially the bridges), its spas, its opera house, and how much there is to do and see. Munich is pretty good, but I didn't find it as great as expected. Still, it is worth a couple of days, and then head out to the castles or other nearby spots. Luzern, Switzerland is very beautiful and well worth a stop, but I have a feeling you might want to save it until later in your trip.

I haven't found any "worst", at least not yet! My best would be divided into two groups, smaller and larger.

Smaller: 1. Brugges, Belgium
2. Salzburg, Austria 3. Rothenburg, Germany 4. Florence, Italy 5. Sienna, Italy 6. Orvietto, Italy 7. Trier, Germany 8. Strausburg, France 9. Cracow, Poland 10. York, England

Larger: 1. Paris 2. London 3. Vienna 4. Munich 5. Edinburgh 6. Prague 7. Budapest 8. Rome 9. Amsterdam 10. Warsaw

They are not necessarily in order of preference. If you would like additional information on each, please e-mail us.

Worst places? Let's see. Piraeus, Liverpool, Naples, Marseille, Taranto, Lille, Aviemore for openers. For many reasons--dirty, polluted, rundown, tough as nails, grimy, or fern-bar-phoney. Match 'em up.
