Young couple in France
 

My girlfriend and I are going to in Paris from october 8th to the 15th. I will be 23 and she is 21. We both really enjoy exploring new areas, meeting new people and filming the areas we explore. We also really enjoy dancing and dining. That being the case we are trying to figure out where in paris we should stay. Unfortuantly we don't have a ton of money for this trip Between us both we will have about 1000 euros for dining, and lodging for those seven days. Do any of you have any recommendations for places to stay? (I will have camera equipment and editing equipment with me while we are in paris so a secure room would be preferable). Thanks again!

Try renting an apartment...there are folks here who will assist you with specifics.

Once upon a time, husband and I were in Paris on a tight budget and we rented a funky little place. We could enjoy the experience of buying and cooking as if we lived there, while saving tons on breakfasts and lunch that we then spent on nice dinners out.

Curiously, the people who had rented the apartment before us had left a some papers behind in the waste-basket...they had been on the crew of a Merchant Ivory Production so I guess it is a good way for film people to go!

VacationinParis.com has a several studio apartments at around $100 or less. With apartments, one pays in advance. Because ViP is US company, you can pay with a credit card, which is handy. An apartment allows you shop locally and eat in which can be a big savings. Quite nice actually. We rented #176, well located in the 2nd arr.,with a terrific shopping street and good reasonable to cheap restaurants no more than a 5 minute walk away, buses across the street and the metro on the corner. It even has free phone to the US or elsewhere and a supermarket next door.

The area between the Bastille and the Ledru-Rollin métro station might be good for you.

You might try Airbnb to look for an apartment or a room. https://www.airbnb.com/ Go to the site and search Paris, France. On the left side of the screen indicate if you want a whole apartment or just a room. You can also enter your price range and preferred location, and then narrow things down on the map.

Be sure you choose only places with lots of good reviews, and to ask the owner any clarifying questions you might have before booking.

Don't stay on the Left Bank. Choose arrondissements such as 10, 11, 12, 18, 19, 20.

We are staying in the 20ème, which we love, next week, at an airBnB place, for about 60 euros a night. I've been in touch with the owner a dozen times (in French, which might make a difference), and it seems like it will be quite nice experience. It's my first time doing this, but I'm fairly confident it's going to be good - we've had only great correspondence with the owner. And it has good reviews.

Agree completely as it relates to the apartment. Buying staples for breakfast and even lunch or snacks will save money. We also would have a night in with bread, cheese, fruit and wine - so you can get good quality and not break the bank.

I've also used Vacation in Paris, and appreciated the ability to pay in $$. You get the keys in advance along with the directions, which I appreciate.

As for location, I agree as it relates to not going for the left bank. I might try a bit closer in than what kerouac mentions (but these would be good, and probably cheaper); I'd personally be drawn to the Marais.

Try wimdu.com (site specialised in apartment and room rental). They show many nice studios for less than 60 eur during the period you mentioned

Thanks for the quick response, I really appreciate it. It looks like we will be going with the apartment idea. The next question I would like to pose is: Which bank should we stay at if we way to experience the street markets and nightlife?

The street markets are in every arrondissement except the first.
