You have been cut off. No catsup until breakfast with our eggs. Honestly, some people!

Statia, being rich or "classy" is not a requirement to join in on our soiree. You just have to love to travel, be entertaining (which you already are) and of course love all of us!

Uncle Sam is ok but comes on strong like a troll to bait us, who love France. Because France did not go along with Bush to war in Iraq.

cigalechanta.

You know everyone and their alter egos at this party! Yes, Jody put Thin in a pareo. How perfect. How will we recognize Degas? By his dazzeling smile I suppose.

We'd like to come, too! We'll be outside, standing under the lamppost:
my hubby, leaning on his golf club bag, and me, with my "Obscure Hotels in Paris" guidebook...

I'll be dressed from head to toe in Etro (dressing like an Italian but lokking like a tourist - thank you Grace Jones) sipping a Campari and soda.

Afterwards we can go back to my rented cabana at the Hotel des Bains in Lido...

Goodness but this has all the makings of a raucous party! I feel so shy with all you worldly jet-setters, so I will just slip in and be as quiet as a mouse.

And then in the wee hours, when we are all well lubricated and the room is lit solely by candlelight and them that's able (and some who aren't) are on the dance floor, suddenly Donna Summers' "Hot Stuff" is ripped from the turntable where Pup was scratching it.

Silence, then as the front door opens, we hear the opening strains of "Also spake Zarathustra". Backlit, a silhouette appears in the doorway, a dark figure in a blinding nimbus of silver-blue light. As the man steps into the room we see an impeccably dressed gentleman with a kindly face.

"Who...who are yyyou?" someone timidly ventures.

"Haines. Ben Haines." the cultured voice replies. "I am happy to join you, particularly since I seldom come to Venice, as riding my bike here is simply out of the question. But in light of the way you all have conducted yourselves this evening, I thought you might like to know that I have on disc a comprehensive list of hangover remedies from various European nations, which I will be more than happy to email you at your request."

As the legend come to life turned and walked back to the door, the only sound to be heard was the faint whisper made by his Saville Row suit trousers as he walked. Hand on the door latch, he turned and spoke again: "Oh yes, and one more thing...Welcome to Europe!"

Robdaddy

And then the song of angels could be heard far off in the distance as Mr. Ben Haines tips his hat and disappears into the night and the Cipriani is swallowed up by the gentle chill of the hovering mist.

Love the Squirrel Nut Zippers. I was at a fashion show a couple years ago where the lead singer wore the final dress in Mark Montano's NYC spring fashion show.

Speaking of such matters, does anyone know a good hair stylist in Venice?
