Assuming you have specific dates that are not flexible, the chance of the fare going down is about the same as the chance of the fare going up.

Are you feeling lucky?

It seems to be a decent price to me, not a fantastic bargain by any means but certainly a reasonable fare. Sept. and October are not really low season... the super low fares don't usually kick in until November.

In defense of Rex, he has and continues to post many helpful tidbits of information on this board. He also has gone way beyond the call of duty and helped posters having medical emergencies in foreign countries. There are several amazing stories where this man called hospitals in Europe to help Fodors posters out in their time of need. In my book he's a generous spirited poster, not a mean spirited person as is claimed on this thread

Hi TexasAggie, I agree with you. I would think that Rex is not the only doctor on Fodor's but he is the one that spends his own money and time to call doctors and hospitals in Europe when Fodorites have emergency medical problems. And of course his good help and been so appreciated by those he has helped. I am sure overwhelmed too by his kindness, I would have been.

I appreciate the kind remarks, but the legend has outgrown the facts. It was a single occurrence of making a few calls to a hospital (and two hotels) in France.

Still, I think that lenox is the malcontent.

11000 replies here; I think I have been helpful...

...including when I point out (and yes, occasionally criticize or lampoon those who post) a question with a message header that is...

...yikes...

...utterly useless.

;)

I really do try to be gentle and helpful with tose who post "Help" on their very first ever message here.

russwuf has been around this forum for much of January and February, as evidenced, by posts (actually registered in November) - - I thought a light lampooning would serve this thread, and maintain some levity...

Shoulda/coulda/oughta knowed better, as some of my kinfolk would say....

Hi rex,
Thanks for setting the facts straight but I still don't see your actions as one iota less generous... in fact, now I shall just add humble to your resume ;-)
